V stredu 25. januára oznámila nadácia The James Beard Foundation svoj dlhý zoznam semifinalistov 2023 Restaurant and Chef Award. Už samotná nominácia je poctou, ktorú môžu kuchári, mixológovia a profesionáli v oblasti pohostinstva pridať k svojim oceneniam predtým, ako sa zoznam ďalej upraví na finalistov (nazývaných nominanti) a na jar budú vyhlásení víťazi. Nominovaní budú vyhlásení v stredu 29. marca a víťazi budú oslavovaní na slávnostnom odovzdávaní cien James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards v pondelok 5. júna 2023 v Lyric Opera of Chicago.
